Becoming an East African Playgrounds Ambassador not only give you the training to help develop your skills and careers, It also gives you the chance to lead your Universities team on Gorilla Trek during summer 2019. This is a FREE programme that you can do alongside your studies. Our Ambassadors stand out from the crow of graduates due to the skills and experience they gain on our programme.

On the Gorilla trek You’ll explore the natural beauty of the country over a five-day trek – trekking and canoeing across the lakes and foothills of western Uganda, you’ll experience every terrain the world has to offer. You’ll canoe across lakes, climb over mountains, trek through rainforest, and experience stunning scenery at every turn of the journey.

You’ll discover the last remaining wild silverback gorillas, feeling like an intrepid explorer as you walk paths no-one else has walked to find them. You’ll spend an hour in the company of the gentle giants, and contribute to the conservation of this critically endangered species by visiting.

You’ll develop a local community, by transforming an empty playing field into a safe, fun and exciting playground for children to enjoy for generations to come. Living and volunteering within a local community, you’ll help transform a community school by building an amazing new playground with a team of trained Ugandan builders and welders. You will also assist on our creative play programme to inspire children at a school to learn, explore and develop themselves.

The Ambassador programme and why you should join

Our Ambassador Scheme is an exciting opportunity that offers the chance for university students to train, lead and develop with East African Playgrounds.

If you have a drive to work hard, have fun and succeed this could be the role for you.

We’ll put you in the driving seat of one of our projects; the Gorilla Trek or Uganda Volunteer Project, taking you beyond volunteering to become an upskilled, highly experienced fundraiser and people manager (plus much more) by the end of the scheme.

Training will be delivered by a range of charity experts through online and in-person events, culminating in the recruitment of your own team of volunteers and the opportunity to go to Uganda with them in the summer.

We have partnerships at Universities all across England and Wales, so as long as you are a university student based full time in the UK and are over 18 then you are eligible to apply.
