Mina Georgina Cooper HI - so I'm going to take part in a 10k marathon on the 22nd April to help reach my £2000 goal for my trip to Uganda at the beginning of September 2018. I'm going with an amazing charity called 'East African Playgrounds' to build playgrounds in rural villages for underprivileged children to give them the childhood they deserve.

We were all lucky enough to have access to playgrounds, so why should it be any different for them? Play is really important for a child's development - it helps them in so many ways, like building physical, social and emotional skills, as well as bringing general happiness into their lives.

Examples of what you can fund with a donation are...

£10 - build a toy giraffe for the children of a community to play with

£15 - builds a motorbike out of tires, allowing kids to engage their creativity in role-play scenarios

£20 - funds safety equipment for a disadvantaged young adult, helping them to be safe as they start their meaningful employment with East African Playgrounds

£50 - builds a table with space for board games such as checkers or snakes and ladders!

This 10k marathon will be the furthest thing from easy (considering I haven't exercised in around 9 months) but it'll be worth it I'm sure! I should really start hitting the gym....

Of the £2000 I raise, £300 will go to the Ugandan Wildlife Authority to improve the conservation and the protection of the last wild mountain gorillas. £600 will go towards the project costs, such as food, accommodation and travel which goes to a non-profit trek organisation called the Home of Edirisa, who support all the local communities we trek through. The final £1,100 will go to East African Playgrounds to fund their amazing, selfless work <3.

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated and will help change someone’s life for the better. Please give anything you can!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Mina Georgina Cooper
