Matthew Orr As a part of my studies at Coventry University, I have volunteered to be involved in the Gorilla Trek which runs through the charity East African Playgroups.
In Summer 2019, myself and a team of fellow students from Universities all over the UK will travel to Uganda to help develop a local community. We will be building a local school playground with colourfull equipment to not only give Ugandan children the gift of play but to enhance their education. A playground is a classroom in disguise, children don't know they are learning, they don't feel like they are learning, but really they are taking in the whole world whilst playing with their friends.
This is an unbelievable opportunity to really help a small community and I am so grateful to be given the chance of a lifetime to travel to Uganda, live with the local community, experience their culture and in tern, leave them with a facility in which their children can flourish to their full potential.
