Niall Cole I have signed up with the charity East African Playgrounds with the aim of raising £2,000. These funds will go towards the playground that I will be helping to build - alongside a team of paid Ugandan professionals - for a school, in rural Uganda. In the UK we take the benefits that playgrounds provide for granted while also assuming everyone in the world has access to such privileges. However, this is not the case and there are many disadvantaged children in rural Uganda who don't have such basic play areas available to them. These spaces have been proven to provide an opportunity for young children to build physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills in a fun and relaxed environment where they can exercise freedom of thought.

As part of the trip we will also be trekking through Uganda - walking alongside some of the last silverback gorillas in the world and embracing the local culture. This will directly help to conserve the gorilla's habitat and reduce the chances of extinction with part of the fundraised money going to the Ugandan Wildlife Authority. Moreover, part of the money will be donated to the Home of Edirisa, a social enterprise that works on building up the communities and towns that we will be trekking through. In recent years, they have built a swimming pool on Lake Bunyoni for children to learn to swim safely.

Please help me reach my fundraising target by giving whatever you can - any donation would mean a lot to me. Below are a few examples of what your donation could help to fund:
£10 - builds a toy giraffe for the children of a community to play with
£15 - builds a motorbike out of tires, allowing kids to to engage their creativity
£20 - funds safety equipment for a disadvantaged young adult
£50 - builds a table with space for board games such as checkers

I'd also like to raise more awareness about EAP, and what the charity does so I would appreciate it if you could spread the word to your friends and family. Thank you!
