Michele Halmrast I've signed up to the Gorilla Trek with the charity East African Playgrounds to raise £2,000, to help bring the gift of play to the children of Uganda. I will be living and working within a local community to build a playground for school children, as well as going on a trek to find the last remaining Silverback Mountain Gorilla's.

A portion of the money I raise will be donated to the Ugandan Wildlife Authority to aid in the conservation of the endangered mountain gorillas. Most of the money will go towards supporting East African Playgrounds to help improve the lives of the people of Uganda by providing playgrounds, educational play programmes as well as supporting their vocational programme.

East African Playgrounds build playgrounds all over Uganda, including in refugee camps - in a collaboration with UNICEF. They have already built over 250 playgrounds, which has impacted the lives of over 300,000 children. EAP maintain their relationship with each school so that they can return and make sure the playground is well maintained. They also run an apprenticeship scheme through their playground building programmes, to help former street children with experience and skills to find employment.

Here are some examples of what differences your donations can make for the children in Uganda:

- £25 could provide a small herd of toy animals for the children to play on
- £100 could fund one-month educational play programme
- £250 could give the children the best climbing frame they (or you) have ever seen

Please help me reach my fundraising target by giving whatever you can, any donation will make a difference!
