Laura Giles I’ve signed up with the charity East African Playgrounds to raise £2000 for the fantastic work that they do in impoverished areas of Africa. EAP help bring the gift of play to some of the world’s most disadvantaged children, by building and maintaining playgrounds in schools and refugee camps. Every child should have the opportunity to play and it’s something most people take for granted in this country. Play helps build cognitive, social, physical and emotional skills that shape us as individuals, hence why their projects are so important.

Examples of what you can fund are…

£10- builds a toy giraffe for the children of a community to play with
£15- builds a motorbike out of tyres
£20- funds safety equipment for a disadvantaged young adult as they begin employment with East African Playgrounds
£50- builds a table with space for board games

To raise this money, I will be spending 3 weeks in Uganda, with one week trekking and 2 weeks volunteering on a playground build. Every penny donated will go to a non-profit focussed on developing East Africa.

Of the £2000 I raise, £300 will go to the Ugandan Wildlife Authority to help the conservation efforts of the gorillas I will visit. £600 will go on project costs of food, accommodation and travel, which will go to the non-profit trek company, the Home of Edirisa, who support the communities we will trek through. The remaining £1100 will go to EAP to fund their incredible work.

Please donate anything you can! Thank you!
