Josephine Clarke I will be going to Uganda to live and work within a local primary school to help build a playground, and to help children gain access to education.

I've signed up to the Uganda Volunteer Project with the charity, East African Playgrounds to make this possible, and my goal is to raise £800 to help bring the gift of play to the children of Uganda.

Play helps with risk awareness, physical and emotional development, cognitive and social skills, and when learning is fun, a child is much more likely to retain that information!
We will be running creative play sessions within the school, and helping teachers introduce play into their own teaching methods.

The charity also helps refugee children combat trauma through play, and is trying to alleviate children living on the streets by offering apprenticeships in building, welding, and cooking. After two years of learning these skills, the apprentices are able to assist in building the playgrounds themselves.

I want to help the children of Uganda. Can you please help by donating towards my fundraising?
