Hey, I’m Matt and I study Adult Nursing at Canterbury Christchurch University. I’ve signed up to go to Uganda in summer 2018 with East Africa Playgrounds. EAP is a charity that builds playgrounds for children all over Uganda, even in refugee camps. Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Playing is important to also healthy brain development, so important that play has been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child. I’ll be with a team of Ugandan professionals and other volunteers to help build a playground for a disadvantaged community. By going out to Uganda I can give these children back to their children and your money really will help. For example:
£10 builds a toy Giraffe for the children to play with
£15 builds a motorbike out of tires for the children to engage their creativity through role play scenarios
£20 gets the safety equipment for a disadvantaged young adult to start their meaningful employment with East African Playgrounds
£50 builds a table with space for board games
Any donation, no matter how small, will defiantly make a difference.
