Courtney band I've signed up to the Gorilla Trek with the charity, East African Playgrounds to raise £2,000 to help bring the gift of play to the children of Uganda.

On the 6th June 2019 I am going to Uganda to trek to find the last remaining Silverback Mountain Gorilla's as well as living and working within a local community to build a playground for a school.

Play is fundamental to learning and the health and wellbeing of a child. Unfortunately most rural Ugandan schools lack facilities and funds to provide playgrounds and equipment for their pupils. I look forward to going to help change this.

My volunteering team will not only be building a playground but also running educational places workshops with the children in the community.

A breakdown of where the costs go can be found at

All donations make a huge difference:
£5.11 can give one child access to a playground
£25 can fund toy animals for children to play on
£73.80 can equip a former street child with resources needed to learn the basic of welding
£100 can fund a one month educational play programme
£197.61 can train a former street child for a month- helping them to become a qualified builder or welder through EAP Apprenticeship Scheme
£250 can fund a climbing frame for a playground

Thank you for visiting my page and for any donations. Courtney band
