As a final year Psychology student, I decided to end my degree by giving back to the community and empowering young people.

I've signed up to the Gorilla Trek with the charity East African Playgrounds to raise £2,000 to help bring the gift of play to the children of Uganda. A small amount will also go towards protecting the last remaining Silverback Mountain Gorillas and their wild habitat.

I will be going to the Uganda trek to find the last Silverback Mountain Gorillas, as well as living and working within a local community to build a playground for a school.

Play is vital for children's well-being, learning and healthy brain development and a playground is a classroom in disguise.

Even the UN includes the right to play in its Convention on the Rights of the Child. However, in Uganda children are expected to spend time out of school working and play is often viewed by adults as a waste of time. There are very few play facilities available for children, and those that do exist are often unsafe or poor quality.

I want to give the gift of play to the children of Uganda, please help by donating towards my fundraising.
