Georgia Fearon East African Playgrounds is an amazing UK registered charity which aims to change the lives of children and communities across East Africa by developing children’s learning opportunities through play. As play is crucial for the development of children both mentally and physically, as unfortunately many children in Uganda don't have the facilities to enable such creative activities. This is all due to the lack of facilities for the number of children in schools, as the teaching limits the children's’ creativity. Therefore East African Playgrounds works alongside these local communities to then help build simulating and exciting playgrounds, run games and arts programmes as well as developing a long-term employment and training opportunities for young people.

Over 2 weeks in the summer of 2018 I will be travelling to Uganda as part of a team in order to build a playground in a local school. Living in a rural community just outside of Jinja in Uganda where I will work alongside with the Ugandan Staff in order to build a playground for the community that is hosting me. As all the playgrounds are built from locally sourced metal, where I will help by digging the foundations with local tools and cementing the structure, as the Ugandan playground welders I am working alongside will make the playgrounds from scratch. Which will then be painted and decorated in line with the communities wishes. Alongside doing this I will also be taking part in Arts, play and sports activities with young people from that community.

All money raised will go direct to the East African Playgrounds charity, any donation helps and would be much appreciated, thank you! Georgia Fearon
