Across the three weeks that we will be spending in Uganda we will be trekking through the rainforests, canoeing across lakes as well as climbing mountains to discover the natural habitat of the few last remaining wild Silverback Gorillas and spending a period of time there in order to contribute towards the conservation of this critically endangered species. Once we have completed our exploring of Western Uganda through this five-day trek, we will be continuing our African adventure by contributing towards the local communities, through transforming a currently empty playing field into a safe, fun and exciting playground for children to enjoy for the future generations of Uganda. Working alongside a team of trained Ugandan builders and welders, we will be directly contributing towards the creative PLAY programme in order to enhance the childrens development through improving social skills, cognitive attributes as well as providing a source of physical exercise.

Since 2009, EAP have been installing these playgrounds throughout schools in Eastern Africa, whilst providing training for teachers in play theory and how to integrate these newly-built playgrounds into the educational lessons within the school. The building of playgrounds through EAP has had a beneficial impact the children of Eastern Africa, with an 83% improvement in behaviour and concentration of children in class, 98% pf teachers stated an increase in enrolment with more children wanting to come to school for these playgrounds, as well as a reduction in absenteeism and 85% of children stating that they have learnt new skills. In order for this dream to become a reality, I need YOU and so does EAP in order for their projects to become recognised on a wider scale! I am aiming to raise £2,500 in total and any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and welcomed in order to help me take part in the work undertaken by this fantastic charity.

Here's some examples of what can be funded with a donation:
£15 - Builds a motorbike out of tyres for the playground enabling children to enact role-play sessions
£20 - Funds safety equipment for a disadvantaged young adult allowing them to be safe as they begin their work with EAP
£25 - Provides a small herd of toy animals for the children to play on
£100 - Funds a one-month educational play programme
£250 - Provides the children with the best climbing frame that they (or you) have ever seen

I greatly appreciate your support in reading through this fantastic cause and hope that you can help spread the word by sharing my fundraising page with both your friends and family in order to improve the impact and audience reach for this project! Thank you very much for all of your help and I cannot wait to get started on this truly wonderful, once in a lifetime volunteering activity!
