I've signed up to the Gorilla Trek with the charity, East African Playgrounds with the hope to raise £2,000 to help bring the gift of play to the children of Uganda. I will be living and working within a local community in remote Uganda, to build a playground that will improve the well-being of the local community. We take these simple things for granted, and that is why I want to give the opportunity for children in Uganda to have the same chance to play and bond as I did when I was young. Simple playtime has a massive benefit to children in terms of building social and emotional connections as well as physical and cognitive skills to help them with their learning. East African Playgrounds have already built many playgrounds over Uganda, providing significant benefits to those living in the most disadvantaged circumstances.

The £2000 raised is broken down into the following:

- Project costs (600) - This covers most of the food, accommodation, transport and activities whilst in Uganda with EAP, as well as the support I'll receive in the UK and Uganda.

- Gorilla Permit (£300) - To see the Gorillas I must have a permit as there is limited spaces. £200 of this goes towards protecting the Gorillas and their wild habitat.

- Donation to East African Playgrounds (£1,100) - Supporting EAP to improve the lives of the people of Uganda by providing playgrounds, running educational play programmes as well as there vocational programme.

I will be going from the 10th July - 30th July 2019. I'll be joining a team of paid Ugandan professionals and other volunteers in Uganda. Please help by donating to my fundraising target, any donations will be greatly appreciated!
