Patrick Joyce This summer, over 3 weeks, I will be trekking in uncharted terrain in Western Uganda to find the last remaining Silverback Mountain Gorilla's as well as living and working for 2 weeks within a local community to help improve the lives of the school children.

In those 2 weeks, we'll be working alongside the local communities to map out and build a playground, transforming an empty field into an exciting, fun but also safe playground for the children. This will allow them to get more out of their childhood by playing, which has been thought to improve cognitive skills, learning and education (in hundreds of studies).

East African Playgrounds also gives the teachers play based teacher training, which allows the children to learn in a playful environment, and provide playground maintenance training for the community to ensure sustainability and safe play.

East African Playgrounds is a charity that has already affected over 250 communities and changed the lives of 375,000 children in Uganda. By the end of 2019 this will increase to half a million children.

The money raised will go towards East African Playgrounds, but will also go towards the conservation of the Ugandan Wildlife Authority to help endangered species like the Silverback Gorillas.
£5.11 gives one child their childhood back through access to a safe, fun and child-focussed playground.
£21.83 educates a teacher on the importance of including play in education and creates a peer network for them to share their learning in.
£73.80 equips a former street child with everything they need to learn the basics of welding, from their own set of work boots through to ear defenders and glasses.

No donation is too small - please give anything you can to help this absolutely amazing charity!
