Liberty Miller Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

In August 2019 I will be travelling to Uganda for 3 weeks with the charity East African Playgrounds to carry out volunteer work with the aim of helping to develop the local community by transforming an empty field into a fun and safe playground.

In Uganda there is no government funding invested in the development of young people, despite around 48% of the population being below the age of 15. Every child, no matter where they are born, has the right to play and to enjoy their childhood and our work there building a community centered playground will give many children their first experience of play.

Play is a vitally important aspect of any child's development, aiding social, mental and physical skills and helping to unlock potential as well as providing somewhere for children to unwind, have fun and be creative. With the help of locally trained builders and locally sourced materials we will be able to provide a safe place for children to experience this, without which they may never get the opportunity to.

We will also be helping to deliver a specially tailored creative play program to inspire children to learn and develop themselves as well as teaching parents and communities the importance of play and practical ways to encourage it.

Towards the end of the trip I will get the amazing opportunity to spend a few days seeing the last of the remaining silver-back gorillas in their natural habitat, which for me as a monkey and ape lover from a young age, is a dream come true.

Donations of any size will be very gratefully received and make a huge difference to the children and communities in Uganda.

I look forward to sharing my fundraising journey and the experience of a lifetime with you all.

Thank you,

Libby :)

Money raised over £2,000 will be going towards my flights, allowing me to travel to Uganda to volunteer. Liberty Miller
