Edmund Dickens I've signed up to the Gorilla Trek with the charity, East African Playgrounds, to raise £2,000 to help bring the gift of play to the children of Uganda while at the same time helping to protect the world's last remaining Silverback Mountain Gorilla's.

I will be travelling to East Africa to trek to the Gorilla's, as well as living and working within a local community to build a playground for a school. This is important because a playground is a classroom in disguise - children don't know they are learning, they don't feel like they are learning, but really they are taking in the whole world whilst playing with their friends, which is crucial for their development.

East African Playgrounds have already built over 250 playgrounds, many of which are located in refugee settlements through a partnership with UNICEF. Each playground will benefit over 1500 children, and EAP maintain their relationship with each school so that they can return and make sure the playground is well maintained.

Here are some examples of how your donation could help to enhance these children's lives:

£25 could provide a small herd of toy animals for the children to play on

£100 could fund a one-month educational play programme

£250 could give the children the best climbing frame they (or you) have ever seen!

A huge thank you to everyone who's donated, no matter how little - it means a lot to put a smile on the faces of disadvantaged children! Edmund Dickens
