Daniel Quinn

My name is Daniel, I am an 18 year old History student who is studying at Bournemouth University. This coming July I will be taking part in the Gorilla Trek project with the charity East African Playgrounds. Alongside a tam of other volunteers, I will help build a playground for a local school and trek to see some of the last surviving Silver Back Gorillas. To take part I need to fund-raise £2000 to donate to the charity.

East African Playgrounds does amazing work in helping children across Uganda through introducing them to creative play. Play is an intrinsic part of a child's development; it is even recognized as a Human Right for children by the United Nations. Part of the volunteering will also involve leading creative play sessions with local children in order to help them learn, most importantly, how to play and express themselves.

The £2000 that will be raised is to help fund a variety of costs. £300 will go towards the Ugandan Wildlife Authority who help preserve and protect the gorillas I will be visiting. Further, £600 will go towards accommodation and food costs; the majority of this will be paid to the non profit organisation "The Home of Edirisa", who help support the local communities we will be staying in. The remaining £1100 will go as a direct donation to East African Playgrounds. This will help them fund more projects such as this in the future. From paying Ugandan workers to funding refurbishments of previously built playgrounds.

Any donation will go a long way and is much appreciated.
