Daisy Kemp I've signed up to the Gorilla trek 2019 with the charity East African Playgrounds and I need to raise £2000 to help build a playground with a team of Ugandan professionals and other volunteers and bring the gift of play to some of the world's most disadvantaged children. Play has been proven to have incredible developmental impact on a child's social, physical, emotional and cognitive skills and I believe that every child has the right to a safe and fun space to be free.
East African Playgrounds was formed in 2009 and since then have built over 200 playgrounds across East Africa, primarily in Uganda, and have helped over 60 disadvantaged young adults from the region to develop their skills, knowledge and experience leading them to enter the work place with a trade, skill and greater confidence through their apprentice programs. They also provide their play programme, including installation of play facilities and training for teachers and communities, throughout refugee settlements in Uganda.
In June and July I will spend three weeks in Uganda, the first week will be spent trekking through the mountains, lakes and jungles and the remaining two will be spent volunteering on the playground build. Out of the £2000 I raise, £300 will be going to the Uganda Wildlife Authority to help the conservation effort for the gorillas in Uganda, that I will be lucky enough to visit during my first week. This is especially important to me as gorillas are critically endangered and to be able to meaningfully contribute directly to the conservation of these magnificent animals, whilst getting to witness them living in their natural habitat, will be a dream come true. £600 will go on project costs of food, accommodation and travel - most of which will go to the non-project trek company, The Home of Edirisa, who support the communities we will trek through and the remaining £1100 will go directly to East African Playgrounds to support them in their fantastic work.

Please note that if you are a relative of mine you can't add gift aid to your donation, according to charity law.
I am also fundraising for my flights, so any money I raise above the £2000 can be reimbursed by East African Playgrounds to me (upon request), up to the cost of my flight.

Please help me reach my target, I would be incredibly grateful for any amount and every donation really makes a difference!
