Bethany Lockwood My name is Bethany Lockwood a student at York St John University. In the summer of 2018 i will be taking a trip to Uganda with East African playgrounds to help build a playground; with 5 local builders and other volunteers for a small community.

During the day i will be working on the playground however after the day is finished i will be interacting with the children in the community finding out about their lifestyle and culture and hopefully teaching them some new things such as sports and crafts. It will be great to see the difference in education and hobbies they have compared to England and learning some of them whilst teaching the children our own including academic subjects such as English.

This is a great experience to learn about small communities and different religions and beliefs in person, but also having a chance to make a difference in those children lives, which i cant wait to be apart of. For this i am hoping to raise £1500 to cover my time over in Uganda i.e. food and shelter and flights. I will be working extra hours at my job and fundraising such as bake sales to raise as much as i can myself to make this experience.

This is a big aim to reach however any donation of any amount is much appreciated to get me that step closer to this amazing experience.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story :) Bethany Lockwood
