Hello friends, family, and strangers,
Thank you for taking a moment to look at my fundraising page,
I am currently an undergraduate at Cardiff University studying sociology. I am really enjoying my time at university and love my chosen degree programme. After only a short time of being in university, I know that the main aim for sociologists is to make a difference in the world, to make a positive impact. As a result of this, I have signed up for the Uganda volunteering project next summer in 2018. This programme is for the duration of three weeks where I will be building a safe, fun and open playground for children and supporting their needs. The main aim is to advance on children's early development and well-being and this is done through play. It builds on their physical, social and emotional skills. Playing is a key principle of a healthy brain and it goes unnoticed. I will be spending close time with African children and will assure they are my number one priority. This could involve being a parental figure or friend or being a team leader and listener.
The three weeks will be very intense but I know it will be very enjoyable. The playground will have such a positive change in their lives and I can't wait to be apart of this experience. I want to embrace their culture and get involved in as many activities as I can and even learn the basics of their language. I feel that going out of my comfort zone will not be a challenge for me at all and I am ready to start this chapter.
In order to do this, I have asked my family and friends to help with this fundraiser. So along with my family and friends, I am asking you all to help raise this money. It does not matter how much money is contributed to as every donation is a massive help.
Thank you so much for taking your time to look at this page, I wish you well.
