Abigail Sibley I've signed up to the Gorilla Trek with the charity, East African Playgrounds to raise £2,000 to help disadvantaged young children gain a joyful childhood through play.

I will be going to Uganda, treking to find the last remaining Silverback Mountain Gorilla's, as well as living and working within a local community to build a playground for a school. As a student who is currently studying Primary Education I understand the value of play and the importance it carries for young children to experience while they are growing and developing. For example, the children will have the chance to develop their physical, emotional, social and cognitive skills all through play.

A playground is a classroom in disguise, children don't know they are learning, they don't feel like they are learning, but really they are taking in the whole world whilst playing with their friends. Important skills are learnt through play, but unfortunatly some don't get to experince this due to lack of resources and money. I wish to give this gift of play to children, allowing them to enjoy their early years and their childhood whenever possible.

East African Playgroundsbuild playgrounds across Uganda- including refugee camps- helping to empower some of the world's most disadvantaged children.

'What a difference your donation makes'
£5.11 gives one child their childhood back through access to a safe, fun and child-focussed playground.
£21.83 educates a teacher on the importance of including play in education and creates a peer network for them to share their learning in.
£73.80 equips a former street child with everything they need to learn the basics of welding, from their own set of work boots through to ear defenders and glasses.
£131 teaches a community of care-givers and educators about the importance of play at home and school, as well as how to maintain their playground.
£191.61 trains a former street child for a month, helping them to become a qualified builder or welder through our apprenticeship scheme.

I want to give this gift to the children of Uganda, can you please help by donating towards my fundraising. Please help me reach my fundraising target by giving whatever you can- any donation will make a difference.

I am also aiming to fundraise for my flights, so any money that I raise above the £2,000 can be reimbursed by East African Playgrounds to me (upon request), up to the cost of my flight.
