This incredible volunteering experience is just a snippet of the cost of most. Just because it is low cost does not mean it is low quality. We are able to provide our volunteering project at a reasonable price because we do know have large overheads or work with third party providers who need to make profit.

Below you can see a clear breakdown of the cost that you will incur when volunteering with East African Playgrounds. We aim to be transparent and accountable with where the money we recieve goes and this is why it is so clearly broken down.

£100 registration fee

£200 participation cost

This covers on project food, accommodation, living equipment, transport to and from airport, support in the UK from our professional fundraising team, 24/7 on project support in Uganda.

£700-£1,000 Flights, visa, vaccination and insurance

This cost can vary as you will be purchasing your flights, vaccination, visa and insurance directly from the providers. East African Playgrounds can guide you to their trusted companies but you will need to purchase this yourself. The reason we do this is to ensure transparency, so then you can see exactly how much everything costs.

Optional extra cost

Optional extra costs are the weekend activities, it is your choice which activities if any you take part in. This allows the project to suit your budget. You do not need to make any decisions on the activities until you are in Uganda, except for the Safari which will need to be decided in the March before your project.

£800 fundraising donation to East African Playgrounds

East African Playgrounds will provide everyone that signs up to the Volunteer Project with a variety of physical materials – from a vibrant orange t-shirt to a fundraising guide, bursting with ideas and how-tos - all of which will help you hit (and even exceed!) your £800 target.

Alongside this, all EAP-partnered universities will have monthly fundraisers organised by their group leaders, from a Krispy Kreme sale on campus to our huge street collections the week after Easter. These will allow you to get to know your group, the charity and raise some hard-earned money along the way!

You will also be in regular contact with Rachel, our full-time staff member in charge of the Volunteer Project, who will answer any questions that you might have and give you all the ideas you could possibly need to be successful in your fundraising.
