Next summer, I will be going on the trip of a life time to Africa to build a playground, alongside running creative play sessions for the village children.
I will be working alongside East African Playgrounds(EAP) who work with disadvantaged young adults, lacking formal education, EAP provide apprentice programs to develop young people’s skills, knowledge and experience to enter the work place with a trade, skill and greater confidence. They are a dynamic, fast growing charity that in the p

In the June of 2020 I've decided to volunteer in Uganda to build playgrounds for less advantage children. I hope to bring the developmental benefits and childhoods that they deserve but cannot achieve with their limited resources or money. Please help me give the gift of play to the children of Uganda!

Where would we be without the magic of play?
A playgrounds is like a classroom in disguise, children don't know their learning, they don't feeling like they are learning, but really they are taking in the whole world whilst playing with their friends.

Play is a vital part of learning. It helps children focus, recall information and learn key social and cognitive skills which are essential in adult life. In the UK, 49% of people go to university, but in Uganda only 55% finish primary school. East African Playground (EAP) is a charity which builds playgrounds for schools in Uganda in order to encourage children to stay in school. In places where EAP has built playgrounds, schools have seen up to a 90% increase in attendance. I am travelling to

Keep children in Uganda smiling by supporting Ruth to build a playground!

Play is a such an important part of childhood, not only does it provide children with the ability to have fun and make friends, but it is proven to enhance social skills, problem solving abilities and improve concentration at school. A playground is like a classroom in disguise, giving children the opportunity to learn in exciting ways outside of the conventional classroom.

Creativity is one of the most important skills we gained as a child. Playing is enjoyable and will keep children in school longer and increases their employability.

What springs to mind when you think of the park from your childhood? Whether it's playing at the park when you were actually a child, or doing things you probably shouldn't as a teenager, I'm sure you don't take those memories for granted. Because I definitely don't!

That's why I'm raising money for East African Playgrounds, to help kids have that fundamental part of their childhood.

This summer I will be taking on a three week trip to Uganda. I will be volunteering in a local school, building a brand-new playground, bringing the development benefits of play to children in rural areas. I will also help run creative play sessions for the children of the village.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal so that I can help make a difference to the Ugandan community.
