Break Through Foundaition

This foundation wishes to give the Kasarani slum in Kenya a playground due to the hardships of life they face. The children use this space to play in already and therefore in having a playground this will just further emphasise the importance of play.  The slum has 300 people, so many children will benefit highly from the playground. Visit their website.

Skills Plus Uganda

Skills Plus is run by all Ugandans from the community and their aim is to enhance the lives of widows, AIDS infected women and orphans in the community. They do this by running classes that teach people AIDS counselling, motorbike maintenance, tailoring and computer skills. Alongside this they support 92 orphans by sponsoring them to go to school. EAP is working with them this summer of 2010 to build a playground for the children of the community within which they work. For more information about Skills Plus Uganda visit their blog.

Further partnerships

Along with EAP’s work with Soft Power Education, we plan to expand to work alongside other charities. We will begin to investigate these possibilities following the 2009 playground project. The Trustees will visit potential partners in East Africa. Specific criteria will need to be met in the establishment of a new partnership. The facilities we can provide must be able to benefit the local community as a whole.

If you are interested in partnering with us, please contact us at info@eastafricanplaygrounds.org
