Fundraising ideas

The key to a successful fund raising campaign is planning. Our volunteers are vital to our work and over the years their fund raising has helped EAP to continue to grow. We ask each volunteer to raise a minimum of £600 which goes directly onto their project. Any extra money they raise goes into further projects and helps EAP expand. We always like to say a special thank you to any volunteer who goes above and beyond the £600 by treating them to some fantastic activities in East Africa.

  • For anyone who raises £800 we take them abseiling down a water fall;
  • For those that raise £1000 we take them white water rafting;
  • For those that raise £1500 we take them on a horse trek or rafting and bungee jumping;
  • For any one who manages to raise £2000 we take them on a 3 day safari in Murchison Falls.

So how are you going to raise all of this money? Here are some idea to get you going.

Just Giving Page

It is really important for you to get your just giving page up and running as soon as possible. Get a good photo on it and explain what your doing, what EAP does and why its important to you. Then you need to get as many people to know about what your doing and your Just Giving page. Twitter, Facebook and Emails are great whys to tell people, however a good old fashioned letter makes a much bigger impact upon someone.

Letter

Sending a letter to family and friends really get your fund raising off to a flying start. The Internet has meant that everyone emails and fac books each other. This means a traditional letter will be greatly received. Make sure you add what you are up to and make sure its personalised.

Pancake party

An EAP speciality, a cheap, quick and fun way to raise money. All you need is eggs, flour, milk, frying pan, lemon and sugar and your away (but don’t forget to invite your friends!). If your in University halls get permission from your warden first. Then you can put flyer’s out in all the rooms and watch the people come flooding in.

Coffee mornings and cake stalls

These go down really well where ever your from, it allows everyone to have a good old chinwag and get excited for your adventure to come. Alternatively you can have a cake stall at Uni.

Car washing

Perfect for a lovely summers day … or just a great laugh in the British rain! Spread the word, grab some sponges and friends and away you go. Either do it at home, door to door or in a local car park. Alternatively and also usually very successful is to write to ASDA, Tescos or Sainsburys and ask for permission to wash cars in the car park. Then all you need is a big sign at the entrance, few volunteers and away you go!

Hold an event

There are endless amounts of events you can hold as fundraisers. Find out what your family and friends would enjoy then get booking. You can organise band nights, themed nights, barn dances, roller discos, quiz night the list is endless.

An Evening In

These can be as varied as a dinner party, movie night or murder mystery night. Get your friends and family involved have some fun and raise some money.

Bucket shaking

This is a great easy way to make money to events. Contact you local football team and bucket shake at a home game, pubs, and local concert (remember it is probably best to get permission first!). You can even do it fancy dress! The more people you can get to help you the more you will raise

Bag Packing

Simple, write a letter to your local supermarket specify what day you would like to bag pack and for what cause (preferably EAP!), wait for the confirmation, then wonder down with a load of your friends and get packing bags for the busy shoppers whilst asking for donations.

Sponsored Events

Sponsored events are one of the most popular fundraisers to do. Your can do anything, sponsored silence, hike, skydive, swim, marathon, shave head, body wax, eating competition … the list is endless.

East African Playgrounds can help with large sponsored events such as Skydiving, Marathons or Trekking etc. So please feel free to get in contact with us, informing us of your plans and we will give you the support you need.
