Quick Update

Posted under East African Playgrounds News

Hello all – just a quick update to assure you that, in light of the recent bombings in Kampala, EAP and all the team are safe and sound in Bugembe – no-one was in Kampala at the time of the bombings.

Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by or suffered loss through these events.

Second Project Update!

Posted under East African Playgrounds News

So it’s the end of our second week out here and things are going amazingly. The team of volunteers has gelled really well and have managed to work solidly all week with some fantastic results. As it stands the playground has almost all of the structures cemented in and sanded down, all ready to be painted next week.

More updates to follow soon… x

Bugembe Project Update 1

Posted under East African Playgrounds News

Hi everyone!
It is already half way through Bugembe volunteers first week. We have dug ALL the foundation holes already and are having Lusoga (the local language) lessons. The volunteers are all getting along great with the people from the local community, they are greeted by the church with lots of dancing and singing and invited into everyone’s house. The community are very excited about the idea of having their own playground. There are eight schools surrounding the Skills Plus site where we are building, so many children around are excited about the prospect of a playground.
We now have two welders (both called Ayub) who are working brilliantly well together.
Before the volunteers arrived, Tom and Carla spent two weeks setting up the projects and visiting Walukuba West Primary School (where we built in 2009) and visiting some old friends. Everything is going really well over at the Walukuba Playground, the only problem is the children have played so much there is not much paint left on the equipment!

We hope you’re all enjoying your summer as much as we are!

Love from

the EAP team x
